Coastal Restoration Services Inc was built around a straightforward premise: when water is spreading across a subfloor at midnight, or smoke residue is soaking into drywall after a kitchen fire, the people who show up matter as much as the equipment they bring. Based in Vandenberg Village on California’s Central Coast, we focus exclusively on residential and commercial property restoration — not general contracting, not remodeling. Just the work that happens after something goes wrong.

What we do

Most of our calls come from people who have never dealt with a major property loss before. They’re standing in a wet living room, or they’ve just been told by a home inspector that there’s active mold behind a bathroom wall, and they don’t know what the next 48 hours are supposed to look like. A large part of this work is explaining that process clearly — what gets removed, what can be dried in place, how long it takes, and what their insurance adjuster is going to need from us.

On the insurance side, we document losses thoroughly: moisture readings, thermal imaging where appropriate, photo logs, and written scopes that align with industry estimating standards. That documentation is what keeps a claim moving and protects homeowners from disputes over what was actually damaged. We work with most major carriers and can communicate directly with adjusters so you’re not playing telephone between your contractor and your insurance company.

The work itself is physical and detail-oriented. Drying a structure correctly means placing equipment precisely, monitoring readings daily, and adjusting until the materials hit their target moisture content — not just running fans until things feel dry. Mold remediation means containing the affected area, removing compromised material, and treating surfaces in a way that addresses the source, not just the visible growth.

Our certifications and licensure

The restoration industry has a defined body of standards, and the credentials behind our work reflect that. The IICRC — the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification — sets the technical benchmarks for how water damage, fire damage, and mold should be handled. When we reference drying to the IICRC S500 standard, that’s not marketing language; it’s the specific protocol that governs equipment placement, drying goals, and documentation requirements.

For work on homes built before 1978, EPA Lead-Safe certification is a federal requirement, not an optional credential. Pre-1978 housing stock is common throughout the Central Coast, and any renovation or remediation that disturbs painted surfaces in those homes has to follow EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting rule.

Where we work

Our primary service area runs along the Central Coast of Santa Barbara County and into San Luis Obispo County — Vandenberg Village, Lompoc, Santa Maria, Orcutt, Buellton, Solvang, and the surrounding communities. This stretch of coastline has its own moisture patterns: marine layer that keeps humidity elevated through summer mornings, aging housing stock in neighborhoods that were built out in the mid-20th century, and occasional heavy rain events that overwhelm drainage systems that weren’t designed for them. We know the area’s building types and its climate, and that context shapes how we approach every job.
